Joining a parish society, club, or choir makes you feel like you are part of something special and worthwhile; and it’s a great way to make friends!
We know that people are busy in this day and age, but consider joining our church groups – even if you can’t take part in all of the activities.
If you wish to join, call the rectory to get in touch with the group’s president or manager.
St. Ann’s Society (founded in 1944) – is a women’s society that runs or aids parish activities, donates tremendously to parish causes, and promotes friendship.
The women of St. Ann’s Society run the popular annual Gift Auctions and Calendar Dance. They also have run “teas,” bake sales, rosaries, corporate communions, and Broadway trips. St. Ann’s donated the 100-year jubilee icon to the parish.
Holy Name Society (HNS) (founded in 1939) – is a men’s society. The HNS does scripture discussion, corporate communions; and assists at Holy Thursday Passion Service and chants the responses at Good Friday Matins.
The HNS runs the holiday parties for children, breakfasts and dinners. The HNS sponsors the Altar Boy baseball trip and parish bowling teams. The HNS does church facility projects such as set-up of interior and exterior Christmas decorations.
Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Assumption Seniors (founded in 1980) – is a social and fundraising club. The “Seniors” have workshops, get-togethers, and trips.
Past activities include homemade pyrohy and bread sales, coffee hour, and Atlantic City and dinner-theater trips. The Seniors also visit shut-in and hospitalized parishioners.
Choir “Boyan” (founded in 1908) – sings the responses in Ukrainian in traditional four-part a cappella style each Sunday at the 9 AM Divine Liturgy and at special events at other churches, cathedrals, and pilgrimages. In fact, they have sung here continuously every Sunday for the past 100 years!
Bingo Committee (founded in 1948) – our “bingo workers” run the parish bingo in the school hall every Wednesday and Friday at 7:30 PM (doors open at 6 PM).
Our parish runs one of the most popular bingo games in the area. Devoting 50 to 100 evenings per year, this dedicated crew keeps the bingo games and bingo kitchen running smoothly and professionally.
“Zabava” Committee (founded in 2005) – runs an annual New Year Dance “Zabava”. This relatively new society has already made it’s mark running popular “Zabava” and making major donations.
