The Ukrainian Homestead invites all to participate in their nineteenth annual Ukrainian Folk Festival  commemorating Ukrainian Independence Day (August 24, 1991) in Lehighton Pennsylvania on August 21 from noon to 7 PM and August 22 from noon to 5 PM.

The Festival will feature Ukrainian food, varenyky, kovbasa, cabbage rolls, Ukrainian beer; live music by "SHEREMOSH BAND"; dancing; vendors; kids’ fun and a 50/50 drawing.
 
The Ukrainian Dance Ensemble "LYMAN' from Baltimore, MD will perform at 2 PM and at 4 PM.

56th annual Holy Dormition Pilgrimage in Sloatsburg NY

The Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate will hold their 56th annual Holy Dormition Pilgrimage in Sloatsburg NY, on August 13 – 15, 2010.
 
This year the theme is “Sister Servants of Mary Immaculate serving the People of God throughout generations.”
 
The three day Dormition pilgrimage program will include: a youth gathering, blessing of water, healing services, Panahyda Memorial service for deceased pilgrims, Moleben services, Lamentation at the Bier of the Mother of God service, Vespers service, Matins, Akhatyst service, Stations of the Cross, and the Pontifical Divine Liturgy celebrated by all the Ukrainian Catholic Bishops in the US.

Farewell and Welcome Parish Luncheon on September 12

Прощання та Привітання Парохів – Парафіяльний Обід, 12-го Вересня
 
Як було вже проголошено, наш парох, о. Роман Дубицький ітиме на емеритуру від активного священьства. Витатимемо нового пароха, о. Івана Турика починаючи від 1-го вересня ц.р.
 
У неділю 12-го вересня буде полудинок / обід щоб відповідно попращати о. Романа та привітати о. Івана.
 
Того дня відправиться одна співана літургія о год. 10:00. Після ціеї літургії відбудеться обід у шкільній залі.
Просимо всіх хто хоче взяти участь записа-тися на списку щоб ми знали на скільки осіб приготовляти. Вступ на обід є безкоштовний. Розподілятимемо місця при зголошенню. Можна зголошуватися від год. 4:30 поп. в суботу 7-го серпня (перед та після літургії) та в неділю 8-го серпня після літургій. Рівно ж можна буде зголоситися через слідуючі три суботи й неділі у серпні.
 
Візьміть участь у цьому обіді, попращайте о. Романа та привітайте о. Івана. Це є святкування парафіяльної родини, й ми всім раді!
 
Father Roman Dubitsky is retiring from active priesthood. We will welcome our new pastor, Rev. Ivan Turyk, as of Sept. 1, 2010.
 
A luncheon will be held on Sunday, September 12 to bid farewell to Fr. Roman, and to welcome Fr. Ivan.
 
There will be one liturgy on that Sunday, at 10:00 a.m., with the Choir singing the responses. The luncheon will be held in the school hall following the Divine Liturgy.
There will be no cost to attend the luncheon. All who wish to come are asked to sign up in advance, so that we know how much food to prepare. Seating will be arranged when you sign up. Please sign up beginning Saturday, Aug. 7 at 4:30 p.m. in the church hall (before and after liturgy), and Sunday, Aug. 8 following the liturgies. You may also sign up the weekends of Aug. 15/16, 21/22 and 28/29, following liturgies.
 
Please come to the luncheon, bid a fond farewell to Fr. Roman and welcome our new pastor, Fr. Ivan. It is a parish family celebration, and all are invited!…

EWTN is rebroadcasting their television program, "Ukrainian Catholic University: A Light in the East." This is a special presentation of the Church in Ukraine today, a Church that is being reborn from the ashes of persecution and finds strength in her faith.
 
In this program, we see aspects of the Church in Ukraine and a particular project that is necessary for the Church to rebuild and create a better culture in Ukraine:  the Ukrainian Catholic University.

76th ANNUAL UKRAINIAN SEMINARY DAY Sunday, July 25, 2010.

For the past 76 years, members of the Ukrainian Catholic churches in the South Anthracite Deanery host an annual social to raise funds for the support of St. Josaphat Ukrainian Catholic Seminary in Washington, D.C.
 
It will be held on Sunday, July 25 at St.Nicholas Picnic Grove, Route 901 Minersville, Schuylkill County, PA.
 
At 11 a.m., Metropolitan-Archbishop Stefan Soroka and the clergy of the South Anthracite Deanery will celebrate the Divine Liturgy.
 
“The Kazka Ukrainian Folk Ensemble of North Eastern Pennsylvania” performs at 1:30 p.m.,and the “Pennsylvania Villagers” band provides polka and dance music from 4 until 8 pm.
 
Home-made Ukrainian and Slavic foods, including holubtsi-halupki, halushki, pyrohy, kobasa-kielbasi, bleenies, sausage, Lemko platters, and ice cream, bean soup, desserts will be sold throughout the day. Ukrainian arts and crafts will also be on display and for sale.

Father Roman Dubitsky Announces Retirement

After twenty-nine and a half years as Pastor at Ukrainian Assumption Church, Perth Amboy, New Jersey and 45 years in the priesthood, Father Roman Dubitsky is retiring from active priesthood.
 
Metropolitan Archbishop Stefan Soroka has given his blessing, and at the same time has appointed a new pastor, Rev. Ivan Turyk, as of Sept. 1, 2010.
 
We wish Father Roman many happy and healthy years of retirement and pray that the Lord continue to shower him with many blessings!
